Amy received a B.C.J. and B.A. In Government from New Mexico State University with Honors, as well as an M.A. in Political Science from San Diego State University. Amy’s master’s thesis centered on media portray of Title IX as a tool for alternative justice for victims of sexual violence on univeristy campuses. Amy is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Political Science. Her research interests are within the Public Policy and American Politics subfields. Specifically, Amy is interested in policies that are targeted towards gender-based violence, how gender factors into politics, and alternative justice. Prior to returning to graduate school, Amy worked helping victims of domestic violence navigate the criminal justice system.
