Please join us Thursday September 26th, 2024 from 3:30p-4:30p in the Ortega Hall Reading Room (third floor) for our first talk in the FA24 US & Global Democracy Speaker Series featuring Dr. Mark Peceny of UNM Political Science. Dr. Peceny's talk title, and abstract are below.

Title: American Elections and Democracyand Dictatorship Around the World
Abstract: This talk will look at the international politics of the post-Cold War wave of democratization around the world, and the more recent reverse wave that has led to an increasing number of authoritarian regimes globally.
It will focus most intently on the role of the United States in shaping these global trends and will speculate about possible future trends in the context of the upcoming elections in the United States.
