Matthew C. Simpson is a freelance writer and an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science and the Honors College at the University of New Mexico, where he teaches political theory and American politics. Matt received a BA in philosophy magna cum laude from Trinity College and a PhD in philosophy from Boston University, where he was awarded the University Professors' Modernity Fellowship. Before moving to UNM, Matt was chair of the Philosophy Department at Luther College and president of that college's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Matt has been a fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna, Austria as well as a recipient of research grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Aspen Institute.
