Dr. Mala Htun will present her work "Women's Rights in Theory and Practice: Status Politics and Violence against Women in Mexico" at Harvard University as part of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies Seminar Series. This project explores the implications of the "rights revolution" for women in Latin America and beyond. Why have women's rights advanced farther in some countries than others, and some issues more than other issues? What have changes in legal rights meant, if anything, for the lives of women from different social groups?

Moderator: Steven Levitsky, Professor of Government, Department of Government, Harvard University

Earlier this year, Dr. Htun presented similar work at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wisconsin Madision.
