Politics of Race, Immigration, and Ethnicity Consortium

The Politics of Race, Immigration, and Ethnicity Consortium held its 45th meeting at UNM on June 23rd. The meeting was hosted by RWJF and led by the center's Executive Director and political science professor, Dr. Gabriel Sanchez. Dr. Sanchez and his colleagues Patricia Rodriguez (UNM) and Edward D. Vargas (ASU) presented their work “The Relationship Between Race of Offender in Discrimination Experiences and Minority Health”.

Political Science professor Dr. Jessica Feezell participated in the meeting, presenting her research "In the Wake of a Terrorist Attack, Do Americans' Attitudes Toward Muslims Decline" with Dr. Amber Boydstun (UC Davis) and Dr. Rebecca Glazier (U of Arkansas).

Political Science graduate students and RWJF fellows Melina Juárez, Brooke Abrams, and Bárbara Gómez-Aguiñaga also shared their work. Melina and Brooke presented “Black Lives Matter Beyond Police Brutality: How Knowing & Supporting BLM Increases Support for Other Black Marginalized Groups”. Bárbara shared her research “Agenda Setting and Media Consumption: Ethnic Media Shaping Perceptions of Policy Saliency.”
