Biography:

Dr. Griego Montoya is currently an adjunct lecturer at UNM where his teaching and research focuses on economic development politics, social capital, and public policy.  He has worked as an instructor, researcher, and policy maker on applied public policy issues ranging from early childhood education to housing and sustainability. He was most recently a Fulbright post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Barcelona where his field research focused on the Social and Solidarity Economy, and the politics of local economic development.  He is a Visiting Scholar at the Latin American and Iberian Institute at UNM and also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Policy for the Mayor of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he led the mayor’s policy, government affairs and community outreach efforts. He holds a master’s degree in public management from the University of Maryland, and a master’s and doctorate in political science from UNM.
